AccessBank Tanzania Ltd is a new commercial bank set up in Tanzania with a special focus on microfinance. It is a limited liability company incorporated in Tanzania under the 2002 Companies Act and regulated by the Bank of Tanzania as a fully fledged commercial bank.

The Bank has a unique group of very strong international shareholders committed to the task of improving access to financial services in the country. The lead investor, AccessHolding AG of Germany has a proven record of setting up and managing microfinance banks in a number of other countries with the other shareholders being well known Multilateral Financial Institutions including the International Finance Corporation(IFC)- the private sector arm of the World Bank,KfW - the German Development Bank, the African Development Bank(AfDB) and the Belgian Investment Company for Developing Countries (BIO).
